I got the idea to do this post for a long time, but originally as a video for my YouTube channel
, but i decided to do this on the blog because my dogs usually don’t like to stay in one spot too long.
1. What is your pets name?
Zoey (the brown one) and Stella (the blond one).
2. What kind of pet is it and what breed?
they are both dogs, Zoey is a pit-bull mix and Stella is a husky/lab mix (which we found out from the vet, well it was his guess at least).
3. How long have you had your pet friend?
I have had Zoey since 2012, so 5 years (holy crap!) and Stella for 4 years.
4. How did you get your pet?
Zoey’s story: I got Zoey from a pound in Southgate ( a city in L.A.) because the O.C. pound didn’t have the variety of dogs that that one had. It was like 2 weeks of constantly going from home and to the shelter to check to see when she would be available. At first, my parents and I were looking at getting a slightly older dog, until my mom spotted a whole litter of puppies. We knew that they would be all adopted very quickly, so right away I wrote down the numbers for the individual puppies and went up to the office to see which ones were available. Surprise, surprise, many were already taken, but one number was still available, the one that I had taken the flyer for that was ar their cage. The next week, Stephanie (which was her original name -.-) was going to be available to take home since she had to be given all of her shots and had to get fixed. The week goes by and we come back to pick her up. I went up to the desk to give them the number that was on the flyer and it turns out that they ended up fixing the wrong dog, and we weren’t getting the one that we thought we were, they printed out the flyer associated with the one that was fixed and already had our names on her as the owners. I looked at the photo and was like “ok…” and went to pick her up. Right after I picked her up from the little room that they took me in to go over instructions about her aftercare (cause that same day she was fixed), I brought her outside and my mom immediately took her out of my arms and held her (which was my first glimpse into how much of a mama’s girl Zoey would become).
Stella’s story: Jump to about 6 months to a year later, my parents were getting ready to leave to go on spring break, while I stayed home (since i didn’t have that week off do to classes at college) and my dad was going to get snacks, or fill up the truck or something, when he came home and into the house, almost in tears (like really…real tears…and this man I’ve never seen cry) saying that when he was driving by the CVS by our house he saw a dog running down the sidewalk, and at first he thought that the dog was with this guy on a bike, but then the dog ran out into traffic and got hit by a car, and the car just kept on going. My mom was freaked and was like “and you just came home? you didn’t check to see if it was ok?” as she went to grab Zoey’s leash and had me go back with him to the CVS, that was right around the corner of where we live. Right when we drove into the parking lot, we saw a mass of people surrounding something, as we drove up to them and parked the car, as we walked up and saw this little dirty dog laying on the ground surrounded by these people. They were checking the dog over, as my dad was like “can it walk?” as one of the people stepped back and the dog stood up, as my dad asked them if he could take it to the vet to get it checked out, which they agreed to. Once we got her (at the time we didn’t know if she was a she or a he) into our car as i called a vet that was close by to see if we could get her looked over quickly and to scan her to see if she had a microchip. 15 minutes later, after getting checked out by a vet assistant and getting scanned for a microchip, and finding out that she was at least 3 months old, we took her back to the house, took a photo of her and made up signs to put around in our area for a found dog. I instantly fell in love with her but knew that if her owners called I would have to give her back, but after a week and some weird phone calls from people, we went to get Stella fixed and she became our dog.
5. How old is your pet?
Zoey is 5 years old and Stella is 4 years old.
6. What is your favorite memory with your pet?
I think my favorite memory of both my dogs is their first experience with water. It was summertime and my parents bought the dogs a little kiddie pool for them. Zoey was hesitant about going in the water, as she was like placing her paw on top of the water, as Stella just went into the pool and started splashing getting Zoey all wet.
7. What are some quirky things about your pets personality?
Zoey is the super needy one when it comes to affection. She always wants to be with my mom (since shes a mama’s girl) while Stella is content being by herself (usually laying by one of the front windows that we have and just sitting there all day if she wanted to, just people watching. They are so the opposites of each other, but they work together so well.
8. What does your relationship with your pet mean to you?
The relationships with both of my dogs are very important to me. Because we’ve had quite a bit of close calls with Zoey (which i could write a whole post on to be honest). And every time that that’s happened I realized how important she is to me, cause shes been through a lot with us and has put us through alot, but we love her cause she’s our dog. Stella, Stella was the dog that came into our lives unexpectedly but we love her just as much as Zoey, even it literally took her a year to warm up to everyone and fell in love with us (and the treats that we give her). She’s the type of dogs my parents never thought that they would get (since she’s a husky mix which means, hair EVERYWHERE), but she’s my girl and even if shes not very affectionate like Zoey, she still loves to snuggle once in awhile.
9. What are some of your favorite past times with your pet?
Going with them to the desert during the winter-time, and letting them play with our cousins pit bulls (they all get along so well its awesome) and also going boating in the summer and just playing with all the dogs in the water, and the numerous amounts of visits to the dog park to let them just run around and burn off energy.
10. What are nicknames you call your pet?
This question! there are multiple nicknames that we call both dogs by that literally have no rhyme or reason behind them, like: my poops, puppies (like who doesn’t still call their dog that isn’t a puppy anymore a puppy). we call Zoey, ruby (don’t ask us why but she responses to both so its like her alter ego name) and we call Stella by stell, stellabee, and my personal favorite, buttercups and rainbows and bubbles in the air. (I’m literally not joking about that. my mom came up with that cause Stella’s head seems to always be in the clouds).
Well that’s it for the furry friend tag post, if you want to know more information about my dogs, let me know and I can do another post about them, or if you have any post suggestions let me know in the comments!
